Rotherham United are interested in signing out of favour Leeds United defensive midfielder Toumani Diagouraga.

The 29-year-old, who joined Leeds from Brentford in January, has not featured for the Whites since their opening day 3-0 loss to Queens Park Rangers last month.

New Leeds boss Garry Monk deems Diagouraga surplus to requirements and wants to move him out of Elland Road in order to generate funds required to bring in new players.

The midfield enforcer, who was previous Leeds manager Steve Evans’ only permanent signing, still has two years left on his present contract with the Yorkshire giants.

Rangers have been linked with rekindling their interest in Diagouraga, having missed out on the Frenchman to Leeds in January.

But it seems Championship club Rotherham have now joined chase for their former player, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

Diagouraga spent the second half of the 2006/07 campaign on loan at the then League One outfit before returning to his parent club Watford at the end of the season.

He has thus far made 20 appearances in all competitions for Leeds, scoring three times.
