Nottingham Forest striker Lars Veldwijk is hoping to join Belgian side KV Kortrijk and wants to terminate his contract with the English Championship club.

The striker spent last term away from the City Ground on loan and has been looking to depart permanently this summer despite still having a year left on his contract.

According to Dutch magazine Voetbal International, Veldwijk wants to reach an agreement with Forest to terminate the final year of his contract and then head to Belgium to join Kortrijk.

He had been considering potential moves to Dutch sides ADO Den Haag and FC Utrecht.

However, those switches would have only become an option if Utrecht had lost Sebastien Haller or ADO Den Haag lost Mike Havenaar.

Zwolle, at whom Veldwijk spent last season on loan, also wanted the striker, but could not afford him and switched to alternative options.

Veldwijk, 25, joined Nottingham Forest from Dutch side Excelsior in 2014, but has had a disappointing stint at the City Ground.
