Serie A outfit Lazio have confirmed the signing of young forward Luis Alberto from Liverpool for a fee in the region of £4.3m.

The fee involved includes add-ons and a 30 per cent sell-on clause that could benefit the Reds later on in case Lazio decide to sell.

The 23-year-old was bought from Spanish side Sevilla for £6.8m in 2013 by then manager Brendan Rodgers.

However, Alberto has failed to make an impression at Anfield, managing just 12 appearances, having failed to score even a single goal.

He was sent out on two different loan spells in between to Spanish sides Malaga and Deportivo, the last stint being more fruitful where he managed 31 appearances, scoring six goals and providing his team-mates with eight assists.
