Manchester United have allowed James Weir to move to Hull City on a permanent transfer.

Hull have been desperate to add new players to their squad before the transfer window slams shut and caretaker boss Mike Phelan, a former Manchester United assistant boss, knows Weir well.

The midfielder came through the youth ranks at Old Trafford and is a product of Manchester United's esteemed youth set-up.

Weir only made his senior debut for Manchester United earlier this year, coming off the bench as a substitute in a Premier League victory over Arsenal at Old Trafford.

Now Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho has decided Weir would be best served by heading elsewhere and he has joined Hull, where he has signed a three-year contract.
