Manchester United Under-23 goalkeeper Joel Pereira is expected to join Portuguese outfit Belenenses on a season-long loan deal.

A highly rated shot-stopper, Manchester United snapped up the youngster from Swiss outfit Xamax and Pereira has gradually progressed through the ranks to become one of the mainstays in their youth teams.

He had a brief loan spell at Rochdale last season, and according to Portuguese daily O Jogo, the goalkeeper is more or less confirmed to join Belenenses on loan later today.

It has been claimed that the deal has already been agreed on the basis of a one-season loan, and Belenenses don’t have an option to make the move permanent.

Currently tenth in the Primeira Liga, Pereira will be hoping to gain vital experience of playing in a top European league before returning to Manchester United at the end of the season.
