Championship outfit Newcastle United have completed the signing of winger Christian Atsu on a season-long loan deal from Premier League giants Chelsea, according to the BBC.

The contract is believed to have an option inserted in it that gives the Magpies the chance to make the move permanent if they manage to be promoted to the Premier League.

Atsu, who joined the Pensioners from Porto for a fee of £3.5m back in 2013, is yet to make a first team appearance for his team.

In the meantime he has been out on as many as four loan spells to Dutch outfit Vitesse, fellow Premier League outfits Everton and Bournemouth and also in Spain with La Liga outfit Malaga.

Atsu has been a more prominent presence for the Ghana national side, having earned a total of 44 caps for the national side and scored nine goals
