Alvaro Arbeloa is keen to work with West Ham United boss Slaven Bilic after hearing good things about the Croatian from Luka Modric and Mateo Kovacic.

The Spaniard was snapped by the Hammers on a free transfer from Real Madrid on deadline day, with the full-back signing a one-year deal.




Arbeloa is not new to the Premier League, having previously played for Liverpool between 2007 and 2009.

And the 33-year-old, who expressed his delight to be back in the Premier League, is relishing the prospect of playing under Bilic as his ex-Real Madrid team-mates Modric and Kovacic pored praise on the manager; Bilic was in charge of Croatia between 2006 and 2012.
 


"I am really happy to be here in a great club in a great league", Arbeloa told West Ham TV.

"I'm really happy to be back in England and, for me, it's a great chance and I'm looking forward to playing with this side.

"The stadium is amazing. It's really nice and looks fantastic. Hopefully I'm going to see the stadium full with all our fans and I'm really happy to be here.

"For me, this is a great chance to be back in England and in the Premier League, which is a fantastic league and I want to put myself here again. This is a big club and a great club with fantastic players and a great coach.

"Slaven wants to see me training as soon as possible.

"I was talking with [Croatia internationals] Luka Modric and Mateo Kovacic and they told me good things about the coach, so I want to work with him and hopefully I can learn a lot of things."

Arbeloa, who joined Real Madrid from Liverpool in the summer of 2009, helped the Spanish giants to two Champions Leagues, one La Liga, two Copa del Reys, one UEFA Super Cup and one FIFA Club World Cup.

He has also won a World Cup and two European Championships with Spain.
