Aston Villa chairman Dr Tony Xia has calmed the fans by stating that the club have a plan to negate the departure of players during the African Cup of Nations in January.

Villa’s striking department will be seriously depleted during the African Cup of Nations in the winter, with Jordan Ayew and Jonathan Kodjia expected to represent Ghana and the Ivory Coast respectively in the continental competition; Rudy Gestede may also go away with Benin.

While Ayew and Gestede joined Aston Villa in 2015, Kodjia was snapped up by the Championship club from Bristol City in the summer.

And to negate the departure of the duo in January, Xia insisted that Aston Villa are planning to bring in several player on loan deals, in addition to signing one or two players permanently during the winter transfer window.

“We have plan for this. Will get several loans and 1/2 ins in Jan. Don't worry bout it”, he tweeted, when a fan asked how Villa were planning to deal with the African Cup of Nations.
