Luis Boa Morte believes that Arsenal loanee Joel Campbell offers what the Portuguese giants have needed to add to their squad.

The 24-year-old joined the Portuguese side on a season-long loan last month and made his debut in a 2-1 win over rivals FC Porto.

Boa Morte, a former Arsenal player, believes that Campbell has got all the characteristics needed to succeed in the Portuguese top flight.

Pointing out the particular features that he believes makes the young forward special, Boa Morte said that Campbell has power when driving forward and creates problems for the opposition defenders.

"He’s exactly the type of player they need and he’s exactly the player Sporting Lisbon were looking for”, Boa Morte was quoted as saying by Arsenal's official website.

“He’s got all the qualities to play for them and as long as he does well, I’m sure we’ll be the beneficiaries here because he’ll come back an even better player.

"That’s the most important thing.

"He’s really powerful when he drives forward with the ball on the right-hand side. He’s definitely a handful for defenders."

Campbell joined the Gunners back in 2011 from Costa Rican outfit Saprissa. He has since gone out on multiple loan spells with Sporting Lisbon being the fifth club to sign him on loan from the Londoners.

In between the player has managed 40 apperances for the London-based side, scoring four goals and has set up six more for his team-mates.
