Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp blocked a move for AC Milan full-back Mattia De Sciglio towards the end of the transfer window, it has been claimed.

The 23-year-old defender was in Liverpool’s sights in the summer as they looked to bring in a new full-back, but the Italian finally stayed put at the San Siro despite the speculation.

AC Milan were in no mood to lose a player of De Sciglio’s quality towards the end of the window, and it has been claimed that Liverpool also backed out of the chase in the final days.

According to Sky Italia, Liverpool manager Klopp asked to stop all lines of pursuit for a new full-back, including a move for the AC Milan man, towards the end of the summer as he looked inwards for solutions.

England international James Milner has been deployed as a left-back this season, and Klopp is confident that the veteran has the ability to adapt to the role of playing in both full-back positions.
