Simone Zaza's father, Antonio, claims that his son would have been happy to stress to Juventus officials his desire to wear the Napoli shirt.

The Italy international was wanted by the Azzurri, but Napoli could find no agreement with Juventus and the Italian champions were also not keen on strengthening competitors in Serie A.

Napoli held lengthy talks with Zaza's representatives, but it all came to nothing as the striker eventually joined Premier League side West Ham on a loan deal.

Things could have been different though because Zaza was ready to pull on a blue shirt, Antonio says, and would have made that clear to Juventus.

"From what I know, Juve were not keen to sell him to the Azzurri, however there was an official proposal made to Juventus", Antonio told Tutto Napoli.

"I do not know the figures, but I know that if Napoli had intended, they could take him, also because the player would have made clear to the senior management in Turin that his desire was to pull on a blue shirt.

"A solution would have been found, but seemingly other choices were made, for what reasons I don't know", he added.

Zaza will be looking to be involved this coming weekend when West Ham host Watford at the London Stadium in a Premier League clash.

The Italian saw regular first team football at Juventus elude him and will be hoping to nail down a regular spot with the Hammers as quickly as possible.
