Nice striker Mario Balotelli has revealed that he did not get on with Brendan Rodgers or Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool and held a genuine dislike of the club.

The Italy international, who was snapped up by Nice in the summer, joined Liverpool from AC Milan in 2014 for £16m, being brought in by former manager Rodgers.

Balotelli managed just four goals in 28 appearances in all competitions for Liverpool in the 2014/15 campaign and was hence shipped back to AC Milan on a loan deal last season.

The 26-year-old endured a similar poor spell at AC Milan, with the forward netting just three times in 23 games.

Upon his return to Liverpool at the start of the season, Balotelli was made to train with the reserves by manager  Klopp, who deemed him surplus to requirements.

Liverpool were so keen to offload Balotelli in the summer, that despite still having time left on his deal with the Reds, the Anfield outfit allowed the Italian to join Nice on a free transfer on deadline day.

And the former Manchester City star, who scored twice on his Ligue 1 debut last night as Nice beat Marseille 3-2, said that joining Liverpool was the “worst mistake” of his life.

"It was the worst mistake of my life", Balotelli told French broadcaster Canal +.

"Apart from the fans, who were fantastic with me, I must be honest, and the players, who I had a good rapport with, I didn't like the club.”

Balotelli was signed by then Liverpool boss Rodgers, but the striker soon fell out of favour with the Northern Irishman, who was replaced by Klopp last October.

However, Balotelli explained that he failed to get along with either of the two Liverpool managers.

"I had two coaches, Brendan Rodgers and Jurgen Klopp.

"As people they didn't make a good impression on me. I didn't get along with them”, he added.

Balotelli, whose present contract with Nice runs until 2018, has 33 caps and 13 goals for Italy to his name.
