Pau Lopez has explained that playing in England with a club of Tottenham Hotspur’s stature is a “dream come true” moment for him.

The goalkeeper, who was snapped up by Spurs on a season-long loan deal from Espanyol on deadline day, is yet to make his debut for the north London outfit.

Lopez was primarily brought in to provide cover in the goalkeeping department after Hugo Lloris picked up an injury on the opening weekend of the season.

And the 21-year-old, who admitted that he never imagined that he would play in England with Spurs, is keen to learn a lot both on and off the pitch during his stint at White Hart Lane.

"To play for a team like Spurs is a dream come true”, Lopez told Spurs TV.

“I've dreamed of playing in England since I was a kid, but I couldn't imagine I could play with a team like Spurs. It's a great opportunity.

"I hope to learn a lot, improve a lot as a goalkeeper and adapt to life on and off the pitch. I'm very excited and I hope the fans are also happy I'm here."

Lopez, who is a product of Espanyol’s youth system, made his first team debut for the club in December 2014.

The Spaniard has since made 48 appearances in all competitions for the Catalan outfit, managing 10 clean sheets.

He has represented the nation at Under-21 level and also earned a senior call-up before the European Championship.
