Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Pau Lopez has insisted that he will do everything to earn manager Mauricio Pochettino’s trust.

The 21-year-old has been reunited with Pochettino and goalkeepeing coach Toni Jimenez since joining Spurs on a season-long loan deal from Espanyol in the summer.

When Lopez was playing in the youth teams of Espanyol, Pochettino and Jimenez were first team manager and goalkeeping coach of the Catalan outfit respectively.

The duo were sacked by Espanyol following poor results and then landed at Southampton in January 2013 before joining Tottenham at the start of the 2014/15 campaign.

And Lopez, who revealed that Pochettino made his Spurs move possible, now wants to repay the faith shown in him by the Argentine.

"Mauricio made everything possible, if he wasn’t here, I wouldn’t have the opportunity to play here”, he told Spurs TV.

"He trusted me when I was a youth player at Espanyol.

"I’m very grateful to him, now I have to do everything here to earn his trust.”

Lopez, who admitted that Pochettino and company demand a lot from the players in training, also feels Jimenez will help him to improve as a player.

"Mauricio and his staff demand a lot of you at the training sessions and those sessions are really hard, but at the end when you work hard you get to the games better [in better condition] than your rivals”, he continued.

"Toni trusts me a lot, demands a lot, believes in me and I think he is going to get the best out of me.”

Lopez, who has thus far made 48 appearances in all competitions for Espanyol, is yet to make his competitive debut for Tottenham.
