Former Lazio goalkeeper Fernando Orsi has defended Juventus and explained they couldn’t have hoped to score a big win on Wednesday night as Sevilla have more quality than Celtic.

With goals flowing in the first week of Champions League action, Juventus were also expected to show their worth at home against last season’s Europa League winners Sevilla.

However, the game in Turin was tight, and it ended in a 0-0 stalemate as both sides cancelled each other out with their organised style of play.

With results such as Barcelona thrashing Celtic 7-0 at Nou Camp on Tuesday, many expected goals in Turin last night, but Orsi feels Juventus are getting unwarranted criticism as Sevilla are not as poor as Celtic.

And he also added that with the nature of Italian teams, Juventus were never meant to score a flurry of goals against a team of Sevilla’s quality, comparing the Spaniards with Celtic, in a swipe at the Scottish club's quality.

The former goalkeeper told Radio Radio: “Dortmund, Barcelona and Bayern were overflowing with goals, but Sevilla are not Celtic.

“And we Italians don’t expect to score five to six goals per game; Sevilla locked themselves behind a great defensive organisation.

“From here it would be wrong to talk about a crisis; they just now need to focus on the next game.”

Juventus’ next Champions League group game is at Dinamo Zagreb later this month, but they have a big league game this Sunday against Inter Milan at the San Siro to focus on first.
