Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci has revealed that he did give Manchester City some thought after learning about Pep Guardiola's interest in him.

The Italian was at the centre of much interest from the Premier League this summer with clubs such as Manchester City and Chelsea looking to secure his services.

Both clubs reportedly tabled bids for the defender, only to be faced with disappointment as the Italian champions refused to do business.

The defender on his part had stayed put without making his own opinion heard, though he has now revealed that he did in fact give Manchester City some thought after being told about Guardiola's interest.

In spite of not speaking to the manager, directly Bonucci insists that he came to know about Guardiola's interest from his agent and was tempted.

"I did give it some thought. Guardiola's insistence destabilised me a little", Bonucci was quoted as saying by beIN Sports.

In the end though the 29-year-old insists that he preferred to listen to his heart and stay on with his club.

"I did not speak to Pep directly, it was just an exchange of thoughts with my agent.

"It was tempting, but I decided to follow my heart in the end.

"I opted to stay at a great team with big objectives. I want to end the project that we started in 2010 in the best way possible.

"We are in talks with the club [over a new deal].

"The most beautiful thing for me is how Juventus have shown that I am very important for the club. This has motivated me to keep improving and to always give 110 per cent."
