Former Liverpool forward and current Feyenoord captain Dirk Kuyt feels Paul Pogba’s frustrations showed on Thursday night that how his side stopped Manchester United from asserting their dominance at De Kuip.

Jose Mourinho’s men slumped to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of the Rotterdam outfit in their opening group game in the Europa League, and made an inauspicious start to their European sojourn.

Feyenoord kept Manchester United quiet for most of the game and delivered the killer blow when Tony Vilhena scored in the 79th minute to earn three points for the Dutch outfit.

Manchester United’s world record signing Pogba was largely kept queit by Feyenoord, and the Frenchman did show his frustrations from time to time last night at De Kuip.

And Kuyt admits that Pogba’s frustrations showed how Feyenoord managed to shut out the midfielder and Manchester United from the game in order to get their job done.

Kuyt told Dutch broadcaster RTV Rijnmond: “I heard Pogba swearing several times, and I also heard the rest cursing even harder.

“He shouted that things were not going so well, so we did something right.”

With two defeats on the trot, Mourinho and his men will be under pressure to get their season back on track when they travel to Watford on Sunday.
