Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino knows that Sunderland will have something to prove against his side, but he is keen to focus more on his team.

The north Londoners suffered a demoralising defeat at Wembley Stadium against Monaco on their return to the Champions League earlier this week, and were slammed by Pochettino for their listless first half performance.

Going into Sunday's home game against Sunderland, Pochettino is looking forward to seeing an improved performance at White Hart Lane as they seek to find form at home.

However, he feels that Sunderland will have something to prove following their home defeat to Everton on Monday night, but he says that he is more interested in seeing how his Spurs side react to midweek disappointment.

The Tottenham manager told Spurs TV: “The most important thing is how we play.

“We need to be more strategic, more aggressive and play the way we always want to play.

“Both teams need to react, we need to show our quality, but I am focused on my team.”

Despite midweek disappointment, Tottenham remain favourites to beat David Moyes’ Sunderland who are struggling to find form this season, and are languishing in 19th in the Premier League table.
