Clinton Njie admits he was left in the dark over his future this summer, being unsure whether he would be kept at Tottenham Hotspur or loaned to Marseille.

Spurs were in talks with Marseille to snap up winger Georges-Kevin N'Koudou, but the deal dragged on as the north London side looked to bring down the fee to be paid to the French giants.

Eventually N'Koudou's switch to White Hart Lane went through and the green light was given to Njie to move to the Stade Velodrome.

And Njie admits there was a period where he was uncertain about what his fate would be.

"It was complicated", Njie told French sports daily L'Equipe.

"I did not know whether I would stay or go.

"I spent days and days without news from the [club] leaders."

However, Njie has warm words for Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino, who he says "is a coach who tells you the truth".

The forward has made just one appearance for Marseille so far, turning out for Franck Passi's side in an away defeat to Nice.

He will hope to be involved at some point this evening when Marseille play host to Lyon at the Stade Velodrome in a Ligue 1 fixture.
