Rangers custodian Wes Foderingham thinks Manchester United’s David de Gea is currently the best goalkeeper in the world.

Foderingham, who joined Rangers from Swindon Town last summer, helped the Gers to earn promotion back to the Scottish Premiership last term for the first time in four years after the club had to start life in the fourth tier, following their liquidation in 2012.

The 25-year-old has thus far made eight appearances in all competitions for the Scottish giants in the present campaign, managing three clean sheets.

Foderingham, who has represented at England Under-19 level, identified De Gea as the best in the world due to his all-round modern day goalkeeping skills.

“I just like David de Gea”, he told Rangers TV, when asked who he thinks the best goalkeeper in the world is at present.

“Just because I think [for an] all-round, modern day goalkeeper, he is probably the best.”

De Gea, who is also Spain’s number one choice between the sticks, has thus far made 231 appearances in all competitions for Manchester United, keeping 82 clean sheets.

While he won the Europa League and the UEFA Super Cup at Atletico Madrid, the 25-year-old has helped Manchester United to one Premier League title, one FA Cup and three Community Shields.

De Gea’s impact in England can be highlighted from the fact that he has been named three times in the PFA Team of the Year, and also won Manchester United Players' Player of the Year on two occasions.
