Leeds United new boy Pablo Hernandez has insisted that he is slowly getting back to his best, following his goal in the 2-0 win over Cardiff City in a Championship fixture at the weekend.

The 31-year-old, who joined Leeds from Qatari outfit Al-Arabi on a six-month loan deal in the summer, scored his maiden goal for the Whites against the Bluebirds.

Hernandez’s late strike at the Cardiff City Stadium helped Leeds to record their second successive lead victory, with the visitors taking the lead through Chris Wood’s penalty in the 62nd minute.

And the Spaniard, who admitted that he is struggling to adapt to the physicality of the Championship due to a lack of pre-season games, however, explained that the last two games have helped him to get into his groove.

“Yes, of course [I am getting back to my best]”, he told BBC Radio Leeds.

“I know it’s difficult for me, but in the last two games I felt good on the pitch.

“The physicality [of the Championship] is difficult for me as I didn’t play any game in pre-season.

“I started my pre-season just 10 days before the league started, I didn’t do a lot of training in Qatar so it’s difficult for me.

“I think the last two games were very important for me because I played 90 minutes against Blackburn and today [Saturday] I played 87 or 88 minutes.

“I am very happy as I helped my team to win.”

Hernandez, who counts Valencia, Getafe and Swansea City amongst his former employers, has four senior caps and a goal for Spain to his name.
