Rangers midfielder Niko Kranjcar feels he is getting back into the groove and is starting to understand how to play with his team-mates in Mark Warburton’s team, stressing his game has never been about speed or lots of running.

The 32-year-old midfielder joined Rangers on a two-year deal in the summer and has quickly established himself as a key player in Warburton’s squad this season.

While he has made 12 appearances this season in all competitions, Kranjcar is still not a certain starter, and the midfielder believes that he is still getting used to the conditions at Rangers.

He feels he is getting into his rhythm, getting fitter and is starting to understand the movement of his team-mates, as he looks to assert his dominance in the Rangers midfield.

The Croat brushed aside concerns about his fitness as he insisted that his football was never about speed, but is more about finding space and help the team to move forward.

Kranjcar explained to Rangers TV: “I am getting into the rhythm of games.

“The ball is listening to me much more than a month ago.

"I am getting to understand the whole team, everybody’s movement and the way they play football; fitness wise, I have done a lot of extra work.

“I never was, and I never will be a player who runs the most on the pitch or be the quickest; for me it’s important to find the pockets on the field where I can get on the ball and make this team dangerous going forward.

“And when I will be doing that, I guess everyone will say I am sharp enough.”

Kranjcar is expected to be involved in Rangers’ trip to the Pittodrie on Sunday to take on Aberdeen.
