Celtic forward Scott Sinclair has thanked Leigh Griffths for showing "a touch of class" by allowing him to take a penalty in Saturday's 6-1 drubbing of Kilmarnock at Paradise.

Griffiths started the Scottish Premiership encounter on the bench, with Moussa Dembele leading the line; Dembele drew Celtic level in the 35th minute before then handing the Bhoys the lead in the 38th minute.

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers brought Griffiths on for Dembele in the 65th minute and the prolific striker scored just a minute later.

Griffiths was then tripped in the box in the 72nd minute, but opted to hand the ball to Sinclair, allowing the summer signing to score his sixth goal in six straight league games.

And Sinclair thinks that was a touch of class from his team-mate.

"Great result today, a touch of class from Leigh Griffiths in giving me the pen, allowing me to break the record", Sinclair wrote on Twitter.

"It just goes to show how good the team spirit and togetherness in the squad [is].

"Thanks to all the fans. Roll on Wednesday!"

Sinclair's goal broke a Celtic record for consecutive goals in league games.

He will hope to take his goalscoring touch into next week's Champions League meeting with Manchester City.
