Rangers manager Mark Warburton is not worried about the gap that exists between his team and Celtic after they were drawn to play against each other in the Scottish League Cup semi-final.

Warburton’s men suffered a chastening 5-1 loss at the hands of Celtic at Parkhead earlier this month, and the quality of the Rangers squad came under serious scrutiny.

The Gers were scheduled to host Celtic in a league game on 31st December, but the League Cup draw means that the two sides will be squaring off against each other again next month at Hampden Park for a place in the cup final.

With the scars of the defeat at Parkhead still fresh, there are questions whether Rangers can handle Celtic again so soon, but Warburton is looking forward to the big cup semi-final.

The Rangers manager insisted that his team will be ready to face Celtic next month, and is not worries about the 5-1 loss they suffered against Brendan Rodgers’ men earlier this month.

Asked about his reaction to the semi-final draw, Warburton said in a press conference: “Looking forward to it.

“It’s a Hampden semi-final; whoever you draw it’s a semi-final and I am sure the Rangers end will be packed. You are fighting for a place in a cup final, so tremendous.”

When asked whether his team are ready to play Celtic again so soon, he said: “Absolutely, I am not sure what your point is.”

When pressed further whether after the heavy defeat at Celtic, he thinks his team have enough to bridge the gap, Warburton said: “I am not worried about that.”
