Former Tottenham Hotspur forward Garth Crooks was left hugely impressed by Heung-Min Son's display in Spurs' 2-1 win away at Middlesbrough on Saturday.

Son came close to leaving White Hart Lane in the summer transfer window as Wolfsburg tried to tempt the South Korea international back to the Bundesliga and Spurs appeared open to selling at the right price.

But Son stayed put and scored in the seventh and 23rd minutes at the Riverside to leave Boro reeling and put Spurs on course for three valuable Premier League points.

Crooks was watching on and during the course of the game could not help but lavish praise on the former Bayer Leverkusen forward.

"Son's second goal was sensational", he said on the BBC's Final Score programme.

"He's such a mobile player and he can score goals – he's playing brilliantly", Crooks added.

The 24-year-old has been handed game time by Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino this season and has bagged four goals in three Premier League games already, as he proves his worth for the north London outfit.

He also featured for Spurs in their Champions League group stage opener against Monaco at Wembley.
