Chris Sutton believes that West Ham United boss Slaven Bilic is not yet under pressure due to his feats with the club last season.

The former Croatia boss led the Hammers to a finish of seventh in the Premier League last term and the campaign included a series of stunning results against several of the biggest sides in the country.

The tide has turned this season though and West Ham lost 3-0 at home to Southampton today to sit 18th in the league table with just three points from six games, a run which includes five defeats.

West Ham also failed to reach the group stage of the Europa League, being knocked out in the playoff round by Astra Giurgiu.

But Sutton thinks what Bilic did last term makes him untouchable for now.

"West Ham manager Slaven Bilic isn't under pressure", Sutton said on BBC Radio 5 live.

"He did enough last season to warrant patience at this stage."

However, the former Chelsea striker feels that if the next three results go against West Ham then the picture regarding Bilic could then change.

"Their next three games – Middlesbrough, Crystal Palace and Sunderland – he cannot afford to lose.

"If he lost them he really would be under some pressure", Sutton added.
