Leeds United boss Garry Monk is pleased with the way Eunan O’Kane has quickly grasped what is expected of him at Elland Road.

The Yorkshire giants snapped up the midfielder from Bournemouth on transfer deadline day last month, and O’Kane has taken very little time to become a key figure in Monk’s squad.

His performances in the middle of the park have been key to Leeds’ recent impressive showings, and he was again pivotal in their win over Ipswich Town at Elland Road.

Monk admits that the Ireland international has settled down at Leeds, and is particularly impressed with the way the midfielder has quickly understood his role in the midfield engine room.

The Leeds United boss said in press conference, when asked about O’Kane: “[He is] an intelligent person, intelligent player, and he has fitted straight in with the squad.

“And good players don’t take long to understand what you want from them; we have explained to him how we work, exactly how we need him to work and he understands it.

“He compliments the other midfielders that we have, who are playing games.”

O’Kane, who joined the club on a two-year deal in the summer, has already made three appearances for Leeds in all competitions.

The 26-year-old midfielder has also earned four international caps for Ireland after making his debut in March this year.
