Amadou Haidara is registered as a Leeds United player and not a trialist, it has been claimed, as the mystery over the player rumbles on.

The player posted a photograph of himself appearing to be at Leeds United and having signed on the day after transfer deadline day – and the news was welcomed by winger Hadi Sacko.

However, Leeds denied any knowledge of the player in question, something which looked to have killed the incident.

Leeds brought Haidara off the bench on Monday evening as their Under-23s locked horns with Bristol City, the new boy replacing Gaetano Berardi at the half time break.

And according to BBC Radio Leeds, Haidara is registered as a Leeds player rather than being at the club as a trialist.

The news will raise the question of why Leeds appear not to have announced his signing.

It is also unclear just how long Haidara has signed for and whether any fee was paid for his services.

The Frenchman clocked up the full second half for the Whites' Under-23 side against Bristol City.
