Tottenham Hotspur skipper Hugo Lloris feels his side should have won by a larger margin, following their 2-1 win over Middlesbrough at the weekend.

Spurs, who headed into the game on the back of two consecutive wins in all competitions, took a seventh minute lead through Heung-Min Son before the South Korean international doubled the visitors' advantage midway through the first half at the Riverside Stadium.

Although Boro reduced the arrears in the 65th minute, courtesy of Ben Gibson, Mauricio Pochettino’s team managed to hold on to their slender lead and claim the three points.

And Lloris, who admitted that Tottenham did their job by winning the game, insisted that the result was not enough as he thinks his side should have scored more in the first half.

"We know where we want to be at the end of the season and we work hard every day for that”, he told Spurs TV.

“It’s the way we enjoy football – to win is to do the job. It’s true that today we had a good performance but the result is not enough, we should have scored one or two more goals, especially in the first half.

“In the Premier League we know it’s difficult to have full control at 2-0 up and today was the perfect example.

“We conceded the goal from the free-kick and at 2-1 you don’t know, do you attack? Do you defend?

“Their crowd was pushing but defensively we were very strong because we didn’t concede a lot of chances, so that’s positive."

Tottenham, who have now won three Premier League games on the trot, presently find themselves second in the standings with 14 points from six games, just four adrift of leaders Manchester City.
