James Forrest has declared that Celtic will make life hard for Manchester City, ahead of his side’s Champions League meeting with the Premier League outfit.

The Hoops, who are unbeaten since their disappointing 7-1 loss against Barcelona in their first group stage game, thrashed Kilmarnock 4-1 in the league at the weekend to consolidate their place at the top of the Scottish Premiership table.

Manchester City too have started the campaign brightly, with Pep Guardiola’s team winning all of their 10 games in all competitions.

However, Forrest, who found the back of the net against Kilmarnock, insisted that Celtic will throw Manchester City a tough challenge at Parkhead.

“They have started the campaign very well, but so have we”, he told Celtic TV.

“We’re going to make it hard for them and it is going to be a tough game.”

Forrest, who was sparingly played for Celtic in the second half of last season, has been in great form since Brendan Rodgers took charge of the club in the summer.

The 25-year-old, who has scored five times and provided four assists in 14 appearances in all competitions this season, explained that he is unwilling to take his foot off the pedal.

“I made a lot of appearances at the start of last season, it was just towards the end [I didn’t feature much], but these things happen in football and it's been positive so far since pre-season and I just want to kick on and keep going”, he added.

Forrest, whose present contract with Celtic runs until 2019, is a product of the Bhoys’ youth system.
