Mauricio Pochettino has admitted that he was not surprised to see Tottenham Hotspur supporters at the airport when his side touched down in Russia because he thinks it is normal for a club of Spurs’ magnitude to have fans everywhere.

The north London outfit, who have won their last three games in all competitions, travelled to Russia on Monday to prepare to take on CSKA Moscow in a Champions League fixture on Tuesday night.

A number of Spurs fans were present at the airport to greet the team once they disembarked from their long journey.

And Pochettino, whose team’s European adventure started with a 2-1 loss to Monaco earlier in the month, insisted that it is usual for a big club such as Tottenham to have supporters spread everywhere.

The Argentine went on to stress that close to 90,000 supporters were present at Wembley for the Monaco game, a testament to Spurs’ huge fan base.

“We could see it at Wembley a few weeks ago when we played against Monaco in front of nearly 90,000 people.

“You can see the size of our club.

"It doesn’t surprise me that we have fans everywhere.”
