Garry Monk feels Leeds United's performance at Bristol City deserved more than the 1-0 defeat his side suffered in the Championship fixture.

It was a scrappy start at Ashton Gate as both sides struggled to control the game. Bristol City went close in the 16th minute, Lee Tomlin hitting the side netting.

Leeds were also threatening and a good run from Hadi Sacko saw the ball land at Pablo Hernandez's feet, but he put it wide.

Neither side could find a clinical touch, but Leeds did start to enjoy the better of it towards the end of the first half, pushing for a goal.

The visitors brought off defender Pontus Jansson and replaced him with Liam Cooper at half time.

Bristol City would be the side to take the lead and they did so on the hour mark as on the break, Tomlin fed Marlon Pack, who made no mistake in firing past Rob Green.

Leeds looked to get back into it and winger Sacko enjoyed plenty of the ball, but the Whites could not make what pressure they did have tell, while the Frenchman's delivery was lacking.

And near the end of the game, Whites head coach Monk was sent to the stands as the frustration told.

It ended 1-0 to the hosts, bringing to an end Leeds' winning run and Monk feels the final scoreline was unfair on his men.

"Our performance deserved more than what we got tonight. We had the better of the chances by far", he told LUTV.

"We can't be too disheartened – we have to learn lessons and bounce back quickly. The only disappointment is the result.

"We just needed to be more clinical in the final third tonight and make better decisions. But we're growing as a group", Monk added.

Next up for Leeds is a visit from Barnsley on Saturday.
