Leeds United head coach Garry Monk understands the excitement amongst the fans around his side’s recent run of form, but has warned his players about the twists and turns of the season.

After a slow start to the season, Leeds have picked up momentum over the last fortnight, and have won four games on the trot to climb up the league table, and move further in the EFL Cup.

While fans were getting increasingly nervous about Monk’s team at the start of the season, their recent run of form has given them hope about an exciting season ahead for the club.

The Leeds boss is aware of the enthusiasm amongst the club’s supporters, but believes that it is nothing surprising as a run of wins will always excite the fans.

However, he warned his players about the up and down nature of the Championship, and wants them to remain focussed on the job.

On the excitement surrounding Leeds, Monk told LUTV: “Of course, that’s what wins do.

“It creates an atmosphere, it creates a buzz, and that’s what you want as a group, you want the fans to feel like that.

“We just have to remind ourselves that we are still very early in the league, and there are lots of twists and turns that will happen, so we will have to be ready for that.”

Leeds are looking to win five games on the trot for the first time since the 2009/10 season, when they take on Bristol City at Ashton Gate this evening.
