Gaetano Berardi feels Leeds United have improved under Garry Monk after a poor start to the 2016/17 season.

The Swiss defender’s injury was a blow to Monk on the opening day of the season, and Leeds did struggle to put points on board in the first month of the campaign.

However, performances and results have seen an upturn in the last fortnight, and while their four-game winning run came to an end at Bristol City on Tuesday night, many feel Monk has tightened some of the loose ends at Elland Road this season.

Berardi admits that in the first few games Leeds were getting used to their new boss and his ideas, but is certain that Monk has managed to improve the Yorkshire giants this season.

The defender told LUTV: “The first few games were very bad because the manager has a lot of new ideas about how we have to play.

“But after two months with him, we have become better and now we can see the results.”

Leeds have an opportunity to bounce back from the defeat on Tuesday night when they host Barnsley at Elland Road in a Yorkshire derby on Saturday.

Berardi is only expected to return to the first team squad after the international break next month.
