Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has ruled Luke Shaw out of his side’s Europa League game on Thursday night against Zorya Luhansk due to an illness.

Shaw has not featured for Manchester United since their defeat at Watford, and has been recovering from a groin injury, but he has suffered a fresh setback.

The Manchester United boss revealed that the defender is suffering from a fever and was sent back from home from training earlier this morning to avoid affecting the rest of the squad.

Mourinho also indicated that Henrikh Mkhitaryan is yet to completely recover from his thigh injury as he won’t be available despite training with the squad today.

He said in a press conference: “Luke Shaw is ill.

“[He has] temperature, fever, bad throat. He arrived this morning and the doctor sent him home.”

On Mkhitaryan’s availability, Mourinho said: “He’s not playing tomorrow.”

The Portuguese also added that Anthony Martial is available for selection after recovering from an injury he sustained at Watford earlier this month.

“He’s now recovered from the contusion – not the concussion. He has recovered and he is ready for tomorrow.”

Manchester United lost their opening group game to Feyenoord earlier this month, and will be keen to get on the points table when they host Ukrainian outfit Zorya Luhansk at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils are coming into the game on the back of a convincing 4-1 win over Premier League champions Leicester City last weekend.
