Leeds United Under-23s boss Jason Blunt has revealed that Tyler Denton wants to play for the reserve side every single week if he does not get minutes with the senior team.

Denton, 21, grabbed the headlines when he made his senior debut and scored the winner against Luton Town in the second round of the EFL Cup to help Garry Monk’s men to progress in the competition.

Since then the young defender is yet to play a minute of senior football, and has again been representing the Under-23s regularly, but Blunt admits that handling Denton has not been a problem for him this season.

The Leeds Under-23s boss lauded the attitude of the player, and revealed that the youngster is desperate to play regular football in order to improve, so not getting first team opportunities has not affected him.

When asked whether it has been difficult for Denton to again play at Under-23 level after playing for the first team, Blunt told LUTV: “Tyler is just desperate to play.

“Tyler’s attitude is that if he is not around the first team, he asks can he play every week, and that’s the attitude all the lads have got.

“Tyler is doing extremely well, he is still young boy and he is desperate to play in any kind of game.”

Denton will be hoping to force his way back into the senior side as soon as possible, but in the meantime is keen to keep his match sharpness.
