Simon Mignolet’s former goalkeeping coach Jos Beckx thinks it is too early for the Liverpool custodian to look for a new club after he was dropped in the 5-1 win over Hull City last weekend.

The Reds brought in Loris Karius from Mainz in the summer to provide competition to Mignolet, who has been criticised for his inconsistent displays in the past few seasons.

Karius was supposed to be Liverpool’s first choice goalkeeper, but the German suffered a hand injury in pre-season and hence Mignolet started for the Merseyside giants between the sticks.

However, Karius made his first Liverpool appearance in the 5-0 EFL Cup win over Derby County on 20th September before making his Premier League debut four days later against Hull, thereby dislodging Mignolet.

But Beckx feels Mignolet will fight to regain his place in Liverpool’s starting line-up instead of searching for a new club.

"It is still too early to look for a new club, although everything solely depends on what Simon wants”, Beckx told Belgian outlet Voetbal Krant.

“It's just one game and in a few weeks he may well be back in goal again.

“Simon is a real winner and he will do everything to fight his way back into the team.”

Mignolet, whose present contract with Liverpool runs until 2021, has managed one clean sheet in six appearances in all competitions this season.
