Liverpool midfielder Kevin Stewart has explained he has no trouble motivating himself for games, but might occasionally need a cuddle from boss Jurgen Klopp.

The Reds snapped Stewart up in 2014 following his release from Tottenham Hotspur and the midfielder, who was deployed as a defender at White Hart Lane but converted at Liverpool, quickly impressed the coaching staff at Anfield.

He has continued to flourish under Klopp, who handed him his debut, and is under contract until 2020 after being rewarded with a new deal.

Stewart feels that Klopp knows exactly what players need when it comes to motivation and the midfielder, while stressing he does not need too much motivating, admitted when it comes to it he prefers an arm round his shoulder rather than being shouted at.

"I don't really need much motivating, but I might need [a cuddle]", he said on LFC TV's LFC World, before lauding Klopp's ability to know how to motivate individual players.

"I think he is very clever to know which type of players need what", Stewart added.

The midfielder will be looking to be handed more first team football by Klopp in the current campaign as he aims to continue his development at Anfield.

Stewart, 23, started his career in the youth ranks at Spurs, but grew up as a boyhood Liverpool fan despite being born in London.
