Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino sees Georges-Kevin N'Koudou's best role at present as that of an impact substitute.

Spurs snapped N'Koudou up from French giants Marseille in the summer transfer window, though the switch dragged on for several weeks as the White Hart Lane outfit looked to knock down the winger's price.

He has yet to start a game for Spurs, having made three substitute appearances, the latest being in his side's 1-0 Champions League win over CSKA Moscow in Russia in midweek.

Pochettino thinks N'Koudou still has work to do to be fully fit – but the Spurs boss feels the winger can still do a job from the bench in the meantime, operating as an impact substitute.

"He’s not 100 per cent at the level that we want him", Pochettino told a press conference, when asked if N'Koudou is fit enough to start matches.

"He is very young and we need to work a lot for him to arrive at his best level.

"But it’s true that, for the way that we want to use him now, he’s a perfect forward to be on the bench and make an impact like he did against CSKA."

It remains to be seen whether Pochettino will turn to the France Under-21 international off the bench against Manchester City at White Hart Lane on Sunday.

Pep Guardiola's men arrive for a top of the table clash, Manchester City in top spot in the Premier League and Tottenham in second.
