Former Manchester City youngster Mathias Bossaerts has revealed the eye for professional detail which Liverpool midfielder James Milner possesses.

Bossaerts, who currently plies his trade back in his homeland of Belgium with KV Oostende, turned out in Manchester City's youth ranks from 2012 until earlier this year.

He came into contact with Milner at the Citizens and did not make a good impression on the experienced England international by failing to properly clean his own boots.

Bossaerts was quoted as saying by Belgian daily Het Laaste Nieuws: "James Milner once took me aside and told me I hadn't cleaned my boots properly."

Milner departed Manchester City to link up with Liverpool last summer and has quickly established himself as a key man at Anfield.
