Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino thinks Heung-Min Son’s good form this season is due to hard work.

The South Korea international, who joined Spurs from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015, struggled to make his mark in his first season at White Hart Lane.

Son was even linked with a move away from Tottenham in the summer, with Wolfsburg interested in roping him in.

However, the forward stayed put at Spurs and has been in sublime form in the current campaign, scoring five times in as many appearances in all competitions, in addition to providing an assist.

And Pochettino, who insisted that he is very pleased for Son, explained that the 24-year-old fully deserves to be in a rich vein of form in front of goal, owing to his hard work in training.

“This is football”, the Argentine told Spurs TV.

“If you work hard and you believe, you will always get paid back. And that is what happened with Sonny.

“I’m very pleased for him, I think he deserves it and I’m also very pleased for the team.”

Son, who scored eight times and set up five goals in 40 games for Spurs last season, also has 46 caps and 16 goals for South Korea to his name.
