Rangers winger Harry Forrester has hailed his side's 2-0 home win over Partick Thistle, with the Gers badly needing to return to winning ways.

Mark Warburton's men headed into the Scottish Premiership fixture having not won in their last four league games, with two of those matches ending in defeat, a run which pushed the Gers into the bottom half of the table.

They were never in danger at Ibrox against Thistle though and took the lead after the visitors had held out for the opening 33 minutes, Niko Kranjcar making the breakthrough when he smashed in a shot, following good work from winger Barrie McKay.

Rangers struck again before half time, with Andy Halliday hitting a curling shot in the 40th minute which put the home side in cruise control.

No further goals arrived in the game, meaning Rangers grabbed a 2-0 win and with it three Premiership points to push them up to fifth in the table.

Forrester was delighted, though he also took time to send his best wishes to a group of Rangers fans involved in a serious bus accident earlier today.

"3 points!! Well needed, great support again", Forrester wrote on Twitter.

"Thoughts go out to the Rangers fans, friends and families involved in the accident today", he added.

Rangers now head into the international break and are not next in action until Friday 14th October, when they face a Friday night trip to Inverness.

They then take on rivals Celtic in the semi-final of the Scottish League Cup on 23rd October.
