Rangers defender Danny Wilson has revealed that Luis Suarez never used to do up his boot laces during training at Liverpool, but it did not stop the Uruguayan from being the toughest player the Scot has ever faced.

The Reds, who snapped up Wilson from Rangers in the summer of 2010, signed Suarez from Ajax in the following winter transfer window.

The Uruguay international scored 82 times and set up 53 goals in 133 appearances in all competitions for Liverpool before joining Barcelona in 2014.

Suarez has been in prolific form for Barcelona too, scoring 92 times and providing 53 assists in 106 games, since Liverpool sold him to the Catalan giants.

And Wilson, who regularly trained with Suarez at Liverpool, confirmed that the 29-year-old is the best striker he has come up against, while also adding that the Uruguayan never tied his boot laces during training, something he found strange.

“When I was at Liverpool, in training it was Suarez. Every day, Suarez trained [he was tough]”, he told Rangers TV, when asked who is the toughest striker he has played against.

“You can see he's one of the best in the world now.

“For that reason it's got to be him.

“The strange thing was he never even used to tie his boots when he was training", Wilson revealed.

Wilson, who made just nine appearances in all competitions for Liverpool before leaving the Merseyside giants permanently for Hearts in 2013, was roped in by his former employers Rangers two years later.

The centre-back helped Rangers win the Scottish Championship title, while he is now turning out for the Gers in the Scottish Premiership.
