Chelsea loanee Nathan Ake has explained that not playing regularly for Bournemouth is eating him up.

The 21-year-old, who joined Bournemouth on a season-long loan deal in the summer, has thus far made just four appearances in all competitions for the Cherries.

Ake has clocked up just 13 minutes over two Premier League appearances, while playing full games in the EFL Cup, a 2-1 win over Morecambe in August and a 3-2 extra-time loss to Preston North End last month.

And the young Dutchman, who insisted that the competition for places in the starting line-up is fierce at Bournemouth, revealed his desire to play week in and week out as sitting on the bench eats him up.

"The competition at my club is great”, he told Dutch magazine Voetbal International.

“For now I'm still on the bench.

"It eats you, I want to play every week."

Ake, who joined Chelsea’s youth system from Feyenoord in 2011 before making his Premier League debut for the Blues in December 2012, aged 17, has previously had loan spells at Reading and Watford during his time at Stamford Bridge.
