Leeds United Under-23s manager Jason Blunt feels his charges can learn from the attitude being shown by first team outcasts Toumani Diagouraga and Luke Murphy.

The Leeds United duo are not part of Whites boss Garry Monk's plans and have been relegated to turning out for the Under-23s, under the supervision of Blunt.

Their names were also struck off from the squad listed printed in the matchday programme against Barnsley at the weekend and it seems they are about to face a long spell out of the first team squad.

Blunt admits that the experience of playing league football means Diagouraga and Murphy are naturally better than some of the youngsters in his squad, in terms of match reading.

He has also been impressed by the attitude shown by the duo and feels they could be an example for some of his charges, who hope to make a career out of football in the future.

Blunt told LUTV: “They see things, and their decision making is better than the youngsters at the moment.

“They have played of 100s of league games between them.

"But what impresses the young boys about them is, yes they are not breaking into the first team, but their attitude has been good.

“So if these boys want to make a professional career [out of the game], they can see it’s not always a smooth ride.”

Diagouraga only joined Leeds in the winter transfer window, while Murphy signed a new four-year deal last year.
