Manchester United linked winger Gelson Martins has reiterated his commitments towards Sporting Lisbon despite speculation surrounding his future at the club.

A product of the Sporting Lisbon academy, the 21-year-old has been earning rave reviews for some of his recent performances and has garnered the attention of a few top clubs in Europe.




Spain’s big two, Real Madrid and Barcelona, have been keeping a close watch on his showings in Portugal, and even Premier League giants Manchester United have been linked with a move for the Portuguese.

Despite suggestions that he could soon be leaving the club for greener pastures, Martins insisted that he is ready to respect his contract with the club and is committed to doing well for the Portuguese giants.
 


Martins was quoted as saying by Portuguese sports daily Record: “I am under contract until 2021.

“I have to keep working and I am only thinking about Sporting.”

The winger has two goals and six assists to his name with Sporting Lisbon this season, and has overall made 53 senior appearances for the club.

Martins has also been called up to the Portugal senior squad for the first time for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and the Faroe Islands.
