Leeds United midfielder Billy Whitehouse believes England missed the services of Liverpool's Adam Lallana in their World Cup qualifier against Slovenia.

Gareth Southgate's men were largely poor in Slovenia and needed Joe Hart to pull off a series of fine saves to make sure they left the country with a 0-0 draw, remaining unbeaten in their qualifying group.

Whitehouse was taking in the game and believes that the Three Lions were clearly missing Lallana, who was unavailable due to a groin injury.

The Leeds United youngster took to Twitter to write: "Lallana is England's best player for me, big miss."

England started with captain Wayne Rooney on the bench in Slovenia, only turning to the Manchester United man in the 73rd minute, bringing him on to replace Dele Alli.

Southgate's men have remained unbeaten despite their poor display, with seven points from three games so far.

Liverpool meanwhile will be hoping Lallana can shrug off his groin injury before Monday evening, when Manchester United are due to visit Anfield in the Premier League.

Whitehouse's Leeds United take on Derby County on Saturday in a Championship fixture.
