Arsene Wenger has stressed that talk of him taking over the England job won’t be enough to distract him at Arsenal.

Wenger still has a year left on his contract with the Gunners and there has been talk that the FA are planning to approach him to take over the England manager’s role at the end of the current season.

Gareth Southgate will be in charge of England for two more games and there have been suggestions that the Frenchman is the FA’s top target for the manager’s role, which became vacant following Sam Allardyce’s ignominious exit last month.

Despite all the speculation, Wenger is not getting distracted from his focus at Arsenal and insisted that the England talk won’t be able to affect his concentration on his job at the Emirates

When asked whether the England talk will act as a distraction at Arsenal, the Frenchman said in a press conference: “No, I focus on my job.

Arsenal are also said to be interested in extending Wenger’s stay at the Emirates and are expected to fight tooth and nail if the FA try to appoint the Frenchman.
