Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius believes that Manchester United's defensive tactics were a compliment to his side's attacking style of play under Jurgen Klopp.

The clash at Anfield ended in a goalless draw as both sides failed to find the back of the net thanks to impressive defending at the back.

The young goalkeeper, for whom it was a first clean sheet since taking over from Simon Mignolet between the sticks, believes that the way Manchester United took to defending shows that his team have made significant improvements in attack under Klopp.

While Jose Mourinho's team might have waited for a chance to come forward and attack, their priority was in fact to stop the Liverpool attack, with David de Gea contributing with good saves.

"They know we're a really strong team, so that's a compliment for us", Karius was quoted as saying by ITV.

"United maybe waited for the one chance to get a goal, as obviously their priority was to stop our play, our attacks.

"We knew we had to be patient because it was going to be tough.

"Second half we managed better to get through but United defended well with De Gea making top saves."

Liverpool, who are placed fourth in the Premier League at present, will play West Brom next in the league on Saturday.
