Celtic legend Tommy Callaghan feels that victory over Rangers on Sunday could herald the start of the Bhoys' push for the treble this season.

Brendan Rodgers' men will start as favourites to win the Scottish League Cup semi-final clash at Hampden and move into the final of the competition.

The Bhoys are already firm favourites to retain the Scottish Premiership title and with the final of the League Cup just a game away, talk of a potential treble has already started in Glasgow.

And Callaghan has added his voice to those suggesting Celtic may be able to scoop up all three domestic trophies this term, with victory over Rangers marking the real start of the treble push.

The Celtic legend explained that playing Rangers on Sunday is a good way to recover from losing to Borussia Monchengladbach in the Champions League and said on Celtic TV: "I think it's a good game to come after Wednesday night's game because we've not had time to sit down, mope and feel sorry for ourselves.

"We've got to get up because there is a final at stake here.

"Also a lot of people keep talking about the treble and this could be the start of the treble.

"We've just got to go out, do the same thing as we did the last time and we'll do alright", Callaghan added.

Celtic have already seen off Rangers once this season, running out comprehensive 5-1 winners in an early September league clash between the two teams.
